Deadstock shoes are older versions of current styles. They're the same great quality as all of our products; they just have small design details that are different from the current or upcoming new version of the shoe in our store.

Renoir Victorian Button Boots offer sturdy sophistication with the perfect mid-Victorian silhouette. Period-correct for the late 1850s to the 1880s, Renoir features all-leather materials, true side-buttoning closure, and the comfort you need for all-day re-enactments.

These mid-Victorian and Bustle Era boots have square toes, a short heel molded from an original, and an attractive scalloped edge and top, making them practical yet feminine, and ideal for a fashionable Victorian lady.

Wear Renoirs for historical events, or add a bit of incognito history to your cottagecore, dark academia, or historybounding outfits. Renoirs have appeared on screen in "Victoria," and "Alias Grace."

You will need a button hook to easily and quickly get your boots on. Button hooks are sold separately. 

Materials & Sizing

  • Hand sewn 100% calf leather upper
  • Custom-made opera heels are 1.5 in / 3.8 cm
  • Soles are 100% leather
  • Lined leather, with leather insoles
  • Shaft measures 6 in / 15.25 cm.
  • Top circumference of boot measures 10.5in / 27 cm
  • Button closure - Buttons may be moved to adjust fit.
  • Button Fly overlap is 1.5 in / 3.8 cm
  • Ankle measurement approx. 10 in / 25.4 cm (based on size 7.5)
  • Renoirs do not have toe boxes - this is historically correct construction, but ladies desiring a little more room in the toes should order a half-size larger.
  • Left and Right lasted.
  • B width - ladies needing a "C" width fitting should order a half-size larger.
  • A button hook is strongly recommended for ease of closure; sold separately

I loved these boots! Fit great and were super comfy! Everyone at my job always wondered how i could wear them. Lasted several 8 hour retail shifts on my feet! I would highly recommend.
Now i did write past tense. Wore this on a day i expected to do a lot of sitting and at one point i ran outside to help with carts. I lost a heel on one of my boots. Never even felt them catch on anything. All my other shoes came with a spare set of heels, except these ones. Repair/temporary replacements are being researched.

It sounds like the heel cap fell off, rather than the heel. The heel cap is meant to be replaceable when worn down, but on rare occasions one may pop loose early. If you didn't receive extra heel caps in your box, please contact us and we'll be happy to assist!

Stunning!

After going down a rabbit hole once again (for the billionth time) of the Victorian aesthetic, and realizing that I am an adult with money, I finally got a pair of shoes that ACTUALLY FIT and were meant for the period that I am looking to sew for. I was a bit worried that they would be a bit too narrow as I have larger feet (US size 11); but I found the Renoirs to be quite comfortable, with minimal needing to stretch in my right foot; which of course even my day-to-day shoes are in need of so this was no news to me. I even got a super speedy reply when I was worried if the shoes would fit since I am on the larger side. Having that relief that I would exchange them for the next size up (as 11.5s are not offered at the moment), I took the plunge to purchase a pair! It took some time to get used to using a button hook to put shoes on, but once I got the hang of it it just felt so natural! I wear these not only when I am history-bounding, but also with my every-day wear. Of course, now I want them in every color, and I am eyeing the Tavistock style as it is similar to these! They're easy to walk in, feel very supportive in the ankle, and the heel is low and comfortable.

After weeks of searching I have found the boots I’ve been dreaming of! I love these boots! I love all things Victorian and these boots are a dream. The leather is soft but sturdy and the inside is soft. Very easy to walk in, as the heel is nice and low (a definite plus!) The boots arrived very quickly and I was informed of progress of my order right through delivery. I will most certainly be purchasing another pair soon! Thank you so much!

This is The Dream Shoe

I have wanted these boots for literally years. Something would happen and I would miss ordering them, or life would get in the way, but the stars aligned and I have finally gotten a pair and they are everything I hoped they would be. They are comfortable, easy to wear, and insanely cute. I have weak ankles and knees that do not like heels and I have no problems wearing these all day. I did move the buttons for a snugger fit following the method that was recommended and that worked out well for me. Button hook is recommended and super useful for these boots.
